Mid-City

New Orleans’ “Mid-City” neighborhood got its name because, well, it’s in the middle of New Orleans. Mid-City is in-between the old Creole neighborhood, Faubourg Treme, and the Lakeview neighborhood. Mid-City was once the “back of town.” Industries and transportation defined Mid-City for decades.

One of the most culturally diverse area of the city, Mid-City architecture ranges from shotgun doubles to raised basement craftmans style houses. Mid-City is home to the internationally known New Orleans Jazz Fest, the local festival Bayou Boogaloo located on and around Bayou St. John and the annual Voodoo Festival in City Park.
